Update

Have now been on the Amitriptyline med for 3 weeks and even though it has helped me sleep better, it is not helping my headaches.

Paracetamol doesn't do anything for the headaches, so decided to try Panadeine the other day and that didn't help to relieve the headaches either, won't even take the edge of them. So I guess I will have to try Panadeine Forte and go and see my GP again to discuss some other kind of long term headache relief. Can't be on Panadeine or Panadeine Forte forever, it's just not good for you!

Dizziness is still there but not as frequent. Hoping it will fully subside very soon.

Sarah - my neurologist (many years ago) tried me on tryptanol for headaches - it can take quite awhile to work - longer than 3 weeks.

How frustrating for you - does the doctor say things will subside in time? Let me know if there is anything I can do to help!

I hope it fully subsides for you too. It must be so difficult to function throughout the day when you are experiencing such symptoms.

Yeah right, thats basically the same med...he said it would take about 2 weeks to start working.

Dizziness he said is common pre and post op problem, but should subside evenutally.

Headaches can't be always helped by sugery alone. He told me that before the op aswell. So when I see the GP he will refer me to Neurologist for headache management.

How come you don't take steroids? DExamethazone? I jtook them after the surgery, they help with headaches. now i take vicodin. makes the headache pain stop. now, my headaches are from radiation effect, are yours from something else? my next follow up is in 2 weeks. ill be updating my blog soon. i hope your symptoms get some relief!

Cargate, I was on Dexmethasone for 1 week post op. I guess I musn't have had enough swelling to stay on it longer?

Could be something else causing them. Have wondered that myself.

Hope your followup goes well and will be watching for your next blog post. xx

Hallo Sarah ... I am so glad that your MRI was clear, what a relief for you and your family. Sorry about the headaches and dizziness though. Its difficult to find anything that really helps for me too. Post radiography I am on Dothiepin (same family of drugs as Amytriptyline)which certainly helps the facial neuralgia and getting to sleep, but doesn't help me to stay asleep or headaches. I am on dexamethasone too which DOES make the headaches less but of course at the cost of some side effects. Its a Catch 22!
But I am sure that all things will pass given time .. our poor old brains are protesting at the trauma is all! xxx
